Choose your next practice

A small Spanish speaking routine you can actually try.

Try a Spanish request, change one detail and prepare for the reply. A practical sequence with clearly defined tasks.

Start with one turn.

Understanding a familiar sentence and retrieving your own response are different tasks. If you stop at the moment you need to speak, choose one situation and give yourself a model for a first attempt. This routine is an example to try, not a diagnosis or a promise of fluency.

A practice sequence

  1. Choose one situation you will use: ordering a drink, introducing yourself or asking for help.
  2. Listen to a suitable model and say a short phrase with help available.
  3. Look away from the model and try the meaning again. If you need help, return to it.
  4. Change one detail that matters to you. Ask a partner or teacher to check an unfamiliar form.
  5. Add a clarification request. A real reply may not match the dialogue you prepared.
Quiero un café.I want a coffee.

Try changing the drink, then practice asking for repetition. Notice which task needed help. Completing this example does not establish a proficiency level.

Give each tool a job

  1. SpanishDict

Consider SpanishDictionary.com when you have a concrete Spanish question: what a word means, how a verb changes or how an expression is used. A reliable lookup can clarify your next sentence. If you also need a reason to say it aloud, choose an explicit speaking task after checking the reference.1

  2. Dreaming Spanish

Consider Dreaming Spanish if an input-led routine fits your preferences and you want understandable Spanish stories and topics to watch. Choose material you can follow for meaning, rather than selecting a harder level solely because the label feels more advanced.23
