Sap Sap ("we", "our", or "us") provides language-learning apps and related services, including the Sap Sap social app and the standalone Sap Sap Speak app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our apps and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What information we collect

Information you provide directly:

Information we collect automatically:

We collect and process photos and images that you choose to upload. These images may include objects, environments, or other people. You are responsible for the content you upload and for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to share such content.

Photos may contain personal data, including identifiable individuals. We do not require users to upload photos of themselves, and users control what content they choose to share.

2. Sap Sap Speak

No Sap Sap account required: Speak stores your language choices, app settings, lesson progress, and completion history locally on your device. This local information may be erased if you reset the app, clear its data, or uninstall it.

Camera and microphone: Speak uses camera frames to place live visual effects around your face. Those frames are processed on your device and discarded; Speak does not record or upload camera video or photos. When you tap Speak, microphone audio is passed to your device's speech-recognition service. Depending on your device and settings, Apple or Google may process that audio under their privacy terms. Speak does not send the audio recording to Sap Sap's servers.

Recognized speech: The final recognized transcript and a lesson or task identifier may be sent to Sap Sap's assessment service to check whether your response matches the lesson. If that service is unavailable, the app can use a local comparison instead.

Access codes: If you redeem a promotional access code, Speak creates a random installation identifier and sends the code, that identifier, and later entitlement-status checks to Sap Sap. We store the redemption and expiry status needed to provide the access. The identifier is not a Sap Sap account and is intended to bind the code to that app installation.

Subscriptions: Apple or Google processes your payment and maintains the purchase history linked to your store account. RevenueCat helps us verify Speak Pro purchases using an anonymous app identifier, purchase receipt information, and entitlement status. Superwall presents paywalls and may process limited app, device, paywall-interaction, and entitlement information. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details. These providers process information under their own privacy policies as well as their agreements with us.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

We use automated systems, including machine learning and AI-based tools, to analyze images you upload in order to generate language-related suggestions, such as relevant vocabulary and phrases. This processing is necessary to provide the core functionality of the Service.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your photos or other user content to train machine learning models without your explicit consent.

We may use third-party service providers to support image processing and application functionality. These providers process data on our behalf and under appropriate safeguards.

4. How we share your information

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

If you choose to share content publicly or with other users, your content (including photos and associated information) will be visible to others within the Service.

You should only upload and share content that you have the right to share. We provide mechanisms for users to report content that may violate their rights or applicable laws. We may review and remove content where appropriate.

6. Your choices and controls

You have meaningful control over your data:

If you are based in the European Union, you also have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, rectify, restrict processing, and object to processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@sapsap.me.

Depending on your location, you may also have the right to request correction of inaccurate data, restriction of processing, or to object to certain types of processing.

You may exercise your rights by using the features available in the application or by contacting us at the email address provided below. We will respond to such requests in accordance with applicable law.

In Sap Sap Speak, you can revoke camera or microphone access in your device settings, reset local progress in the app, manage your subscription through Apple or Google, and use Restore Purchases while signed in to the store account that made the purchase.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it for longer (for example, financial records).

Anonymised, aggregated data (such as overall usage statistics) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you.

We retain user-generated content, such as photos, posts, and comments, for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide the Service.

If you delete your account, your content will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or operational purposes.

Backup copies may be retained for a limited period before being permanently deleted.

Sap Sap Speak keeps setup and lesson progress on your device until you reset or remove the app data. We retain access-code redemption and entitlement records for as long as needed to provide the code's access period, prevent misuse, and meet legal or operational requirements. Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and Superwall retain purchase or service records according to their own policies.

8. International data transfers

We may process and store your information in countries outside of your own, including the United States.

Where required by applicable law, we implement appropriate safeguards to protect your personal data, such as standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

You may contact us for more information about how we transfer and protect your data.

9. Security

We take the security of your data seriously. We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication in your account settings.

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@sapsap.app.

10. Children's privacy

SapSap is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@sapsap.me.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of SapSap after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
